Review the QuoteWerks System Requirements

Obtain necessary QuoteWerks License Key(s) from QuoteWerks Sales/Support Services

Obtain usernames and passwords for, if applicable:

oyour contact management application, if you'll be using an external contact manager such as ConnectWise, salesforce.com, or GoldMine

oyour accounting software, if you'll be using QuickBooks or Sage 50 (Peachtree) with QuoteWerks

oReal-time integration

oProduct Content Subscription

Compile a list of the usernames you want to enter into QuoteWerks after it's installed

Note:QuoteWerks is supported on Windows 8.1, 8.0, 7, Vista, and XP. Starting with QuoteWerks v4.0 Build 33, support was discontinued for Windows Me, 98, and 95. See QuoteWerks System Requirements for more information.

Considerations for the QuoteWerks Installation folder

Generally speaking, you can install QuoteWerks to any folder location. However, when installing QuoteWerks to be synchronized with other remote QuoteWerks installations, you'll need to keep Path Translations (relative pathing) in mind.

If you plan to use GoldMine’s synchronization features to sync QuoteWerks quotes, there are requirements for the location of the QuoteWerks folder.

Map Network Drive (if Applicable)

If you're planning to install QuoteWerks on a network server, you must install it to a network drive letter. This can be an existing network drive letter; you don’t need to create a separate or special one just for QuoteWerks.

See Network Drive Letter Mappings for details on creating a drive letter mapping.

Important:   If you're planning to install QuoteWerks on a network server, all QuoteWerks users need full network rights to all files in the \QuoteWerks folder and subfolders.

Mapped Drive Issues with Windows 8, 7, and Vista

Starting with Windows Vista, Microsoft added a new security feature called User Account Control (UAC). When you install Windows Vista, 7, or 8, UAC is turned ON by default, which means Vista, 7, and 8 are configured to use new security features.

When UAC is turned ON and a program tries to perform an operation Windows thinks could “hurt” the Windows installation, it’s stopped. In many cases, Vista, 7, or 8 will prompt you with a dialog asking if it’s okay to perform this potentially harmful action. UAC can be turned ON/OFF under Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Turn user account control on/off.

If UAC is turned ON, the QuoteWerks installation program may not display mapped drives when browsing for a folder to install to. You can, however, type in a mapped drive path manually.

Now that you've gone through all the preparation, you can begin the installation process. See the topic that corresponds to your needs from the list below:
