Issue:

Specific environment:

Windows 7 64 Bit computer operating as the primary computer on the network; peer to peer network.

Workstations are all Windows XP. When workstations attempt to launch QuoteWerks, they get to the point where they can login, but then the error 52, Bad File Name or Number pops up and QuoteWerks crashes.

Cause:

The QuoteWerks folder is shared from the wrong location in Windows 7, limiting user access and triggering the error.

Solution:

The folder path must be in C:\Applications\QuoteWerks and each user on the network needs to be provided Full Control rights to the folder (the easiest way is to provide the Everyone Group Full Control rights).

Note: if QuoteWerks is shared under another Shared folder, QuoteWerks users will also need Full Control of this parent folder.
