| Issue:
When opening or using a feature in QuoteWerks, Windows Installer launches and attempts to install another program (typically one that has been uninstalled in the past). Cause: The referenced program did not uninstall correctly and has lingering registry entries referencing a .dll or .ocx file that QuoteWerks also uses. Solution: The best course of action is to simply uninstall the offending program along with the QuoteWerks node, reboot, and then reinstall the programs. You can try running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft from this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed 1) Uninstall app in question. 2) Run the utility. 3) Choose the Install option. 4) Select the app in question. 5) Complete the app. Alternatively, you can try to reinstall the referenced program and then uninstall again, or contact the software manufacturer and have them assist in removing any remaining registry entries. |
