Are you using the most current release of QuoteWerks?
Version 24.0 Build 4
Issue:

I have linked to a database that I created in a different program. I can see my products, but I cannot edit them. Why not?

Cause:

There are 2 types of datasources that QuoteWerks can use:

1. Native database - This is a database that was created by QuoteWerks. Native databases can be managed using QuoteWerks. (i.e., adding new products, changing prices, etc.)

2. External Database - This database has been created by another program, but we can connect to it and extract products from it. We cannot manage an external data source from within QuoteWerks. It must be managed directly at the source.

Solution 1:

You will need to modify the data directly from the datasource or using the program that you created the database in.

Solution 2:

If you want to be able to manage your products from within QuoteWerks, you can import your external data into QuoteWerks using the Product Import Wizard. For a tutorial video on how this is done, you can click on the following link:

Full details on the Product Import Wizard can be found in the QuoteWerks manual in the chapter entitled "Importing Products." If you do not have a hard copy of the QuoteWerks Manual, you can view the manual by simply launching QuoteWerks and selecting Help->View Manual.
